UAB Athletics is an NCAA Division I member of Conference USA that competes in 16 varsity sports with 350 student-athletes and has an annual operating budget in excess of $21 million. The UAB Athletics program provides opportunities to help student-athletes receive a world-class education while competing at the highest level and fostering the growth of school spirit. Blazer Boosters is the principal fundraising arm of UAB Athletics charged with securing monetary needs for scholarships, athletic facilities, sport programs, and operating budget.

There are numerous ways to support UAB Athletics.

Annual giving initiatives such as the Blazer Club (priority seating programs for football and men's basketball), the Scholarship Excellence Fund, and Blazer Women's Athletic Society are geared to generate revenues to offset approximately $6 million in annual scholarship costs.

Planned giving is a great way to ensure the long-term financial stability of UAB Athletics. Planned gifts can be in the form of bequests, life insurance policies and retirement income. The Athletic Legacy Fund is an organization for individuals who commit to a planned gift of $100,000 or more.

Facility funding will go to various current athletic facility projects. UAB Athletics has seen unprecented progress relative to athletic facilities since 2007. Projects that have been completed include: the Don M. and Marsha Hoke Hire Student-Athlete Academic Center; Strength & Conditioning Center; Sports Medicine & Athletic Training Facility; On-campus Softball Field; covered softball hitting facility; covered baseball hitting facility; and new scoreboards, video boards, and LED signage. UAB Athletics is currently securing funding for a baseball/softball building that will house team locker rooms, coaches offices, conference room, training room, equipment room, and laundry room as well as the Baseball Diamond Fund, which is an initiative to upgrade the baseball field to an all turf surface.
