President Ray Watts has set a goal for UAB to be one of the most dynamic and productive universities of the 21st century and attain our vision to be an internationally renowned research university — a first choice for education and health care. This means setting priorities, investing our resources carefully and inviting partners to join us in The Campaign for UAB: Give Something, Change Everything — the largest, most comprehensive fund-raising initiative in the university's history.
During this campaign, we will raise $1 billion that will enable us to expand educational and cultural opportunities, advance research and patient care and fuel economic development. We can accomplish this by aligning our resources with our aspirations:
Advance faculty excellence with a focus on recruitment and retention, and a goal of doubling endowed chairs and professorships;
Foster research innovation and economic development through research acceleration, drug discovery, innovation and economic enrichment;
Enrich the student experience by increasing the number of endowed scholarships and fellowships, improving technology, providing study-abroad opportunities and exposing students to multidisciplinary learning and a new world of diversity;
Develop programmatic support for local, national and international service to communities with a focus on patient care and the transformational experience of the arts;
Enhance facilities to advance learning in state-of-the-art academic and student buildings in a campus environment that inspires scholarship, research, patient care and community enrichment.
