An excellent and caring professor can touch hundreds of lives through the courses he or she leads, the students he or she mentors, and through his or her own academic work. An endowed professorship or chair provides additional resources to support those activities, and helps UAB recruit and retain a base of top academic talent that in turn attracts top students.

UAB has 206 endowed chairs and professorships, established by the University of Alabama Board of Trustees with gifts from our most generous donors. For a Q&A with President Ray Watts on why endowed faculty positions matter, click here.
