Heart to Heart Programs
Heart to Heart International maintains a number of distinct program
to promote education, preventative medicine, and to administer direct surgical
intervention when needed. Each program is described below.

Heart to Heart Surgical Program (HTHSP)
This program is truly the heart of Heart to Heart
International. Through HTHSP, children from around the developing
world are brought to the United States to receive life saving operations.
The program was begun in 1990 and since then has served over fifty children.
These services, which are provided free of charge for the patient and his/her
family, have been administered at three hospitals across the United States.
For more information about this program and its participants please explore
the Patient Archive. |
Heart to Heart Medical Equipment Donation Program
The Equipment Donation Program gathers high-quality
diagnostic and general care medical equipment for redistribution in the
developing word. Specifically, Heart to Heart International focuses
on individual facilities within a developing nation so the impact of such
donations is concentrated and beneficial. Heart to Heart International
is looking for older, but usable diagnostic equipment such as 2-D echocardiogram
machines (VCRs to record the images), EKG machines, and intra-aortic pumps.
In addition, disposable medical equipment (such as cardiac catheters, guiding
sheaths, etc.) is collected for re-distribution as well. If you are
a medical care professional and would like to learn about how your medical
facility can help please fill-out this brief online
form.

Heart to Heart Physician Mini-Fellowship
Program
The original goal of Heart to Heart International's
Mini-Fellowship program was to have a foreign physician accompany every
surgical patient admitted brought to the United States. While this
approach has proven ineffective because of the relatively short stays afforded
each visiting physicians, the program itself has remained an integral part
of Heart to Heart. Mini-fellowships are now offered for 4-12 weeks
and follow an intense curriculum in pediatric cardiology, including study
of echocardiograms and cardiac catheterization techniques.
These educational experiences are provided at no charge to the participating
physicians. For more information about this program, please contact
Heart to Heart International at the address listed below |

Heart to Heart Surgical Fellowship Program
The Surgical Fellowship Program is an new attempt
to help develop long-term solutions to the lack of cardiac health care
available in developing nations. It is a limited program offered
only to fully licensed surgeons hailing from selected developing nations.
Chosen physicians participate in a full, year-long cardiac surgical fellowship
program with a particular emphasis on pediatric surgery. This program
is continuing to evolve and for more information please contact Heart to
Heart directly at the address listed below. |
