indu Student Council (HSC)
is a non-profit organization established for
promoting understanding between Hindus and
students of various nationalities and cultures,
educating students about Hinduism, encouraging
students to develop leadership and team-working
skills while pursuing their professional and
scholastic endeavors, as well as providing a means
for students to serve within the community, thus
becoming more socially aware and responsible
individuals.
UAB HSC is a local chapter of this international
organization. The UAB HSC is a basic organization
born out of the need to explain the basic tenets
of Sanatana Dharma otherwise known as Hinduism to
a Western mind. We have been gathering since
spring of 1997. Over the years we have been
instrumental in educating Birminghamites about
Sanatana Dharma.
We have naturally ended up being watchdogs in the
local and national media about misrepresenting
Sanatana Dharma to the American Public. We meet
every week to empower ourselves and learn
everything that we possibly can to become
intellectual ksatriyas in a world where Sanatana
Dharma is misunderstood.
Hindu Students Council (HSC) understands and is
committed to fulfilling its responsibilities of
abiding by
University of
Alabama
at Birmingham policies.

Mission Statement to learn about our
aspirations for the HSC. If you have any
