Manuscript Collections

In addition to university records, the UAB Archives collects personal papers and records created by private individuals and organizations that place in a broader context UAB's role as a leader in the health sciences and as a comprehensive urban university. As they are received, each manuscript collection is assigned an identification number.

Manuscript Collections in the UAB Archives include the personal papers of faculty and staff of the university (beyond official UAB records), of the leaders of the state and medical communities who have influenced the history of the university or its predecessors, and of the organizations which have or have been influenced by the university or its predecessors. These papers are collected to complement the institutional history preserved in the UAB Archives. This collection policy complements strategic planning for the state's historical records.
