Graduation and Beyond....
Application for Degree File your Application for Degree (AFD) as early as possible in your senior year. If you plan to graduate at the end of the Spring semester, file in the Fall; if you want to walk in December, you better submit during the Spring semester. Filing at the beginning of your senior year allows time for this list to be checked and approved by the departments responsible for your major/minor, the Dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the Registrar. If discrepancies are discovered in your proposed coursework, adjustments can be made in time for you to graduate during the intended semester. You can file an Undergraduate Application for Degree on-line or you may schedule an appointment with an advisor for assistance in completing the application.
Your Graduation Ceremony Don't forget to cross the "i"s and dot the "T"s (or versa-vice) to make sure you're set for your graduation walk, you've earned your turn on that stage.
Investigate your Options Your broad education can serve you well in a number of different careers. Check with UAB Career Services for links to useful information.
Apply to Graduate Schools If college was so much fun it left you wanting more, check deadlines for applying to graduate schools now, as some of these deadlines are set as early as November 15 of the year before the Fall term in which you want to begin, so finalize your list of schools and programs and start filling out those applications! But before you send them, take a few tips from the pros.
Take the GRE Many graduate schools will require you to take the Graduate Record Examination(GREs). Plan to take the test no later than October of your senior year to allow time for the scores to be sent to the graduate schools to which you are applying.
