A New Name, A New Vision

In November 2011, the University’s Board of Trustees approved the creation of the UAB Honors College.  This important milestone represents a great time of opportunity for honors education at UAB.  Building on the strengths of our individual honors programs, the new UAB Honors College will focus on creating increased opportunities for our intellectually curious students, including freshman and transfer students.   

The UAB Honors College will focus on integrative learning, experiential education, and entrepreneurial innovation while staying true to our foundation of providing a unique learning community through immersion in niche honors programs and experiences with innovative and challenging curricula and enhanced educational opportunities.

By leveraging UAB’s strengths and opportunities, the new UAB Honors College will focus its activities on creating a set of student-centered educational experiences that immerse students in teams of students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders working together to solve problems in today’s society.
