UAB Video Conferencing RoundTable

A Video Conferencing Roundtable, organized by the UAB Internet2 Applications Working Group, was held at UAB on May 21, 1999.

You can see the conference by clicking on the links to the right. Our thanks to Lister Hill Library for their assistance in preparing these recordings.

You will need the RealPlayer G2
 plug-in to see these sessions.

What kind of video is this?  The Video Conferencing Roundtable was captured using a video camera and then digitized using software tools from Real.  Sessions are broadcast using negotiated streaming.  Your browser examines the rate at which you are receiving data and tells the video web server to use this information to adjust the quality of what is being sent.  A slow modem connection will receive a 28kB/sec data stream--very low quality. A fast internet connection can receive up to 150kB/sec. Want to see how fast you are receiving data? As the video is playing, right-click on your RealPlayer window and select Statistics.
