Setting up Spam Filter rules with Applemail

  1. Open Apple Mail.
  2. Go to Mail > Preferences, and select the Rules icon.
  3. Click "Add Rule," and type "UAB SpamTag Marking" in the description field.
  4. Change the first menu to "If all of the following condtions are met."
  5. Select "Sender is not in my address book" from the next pull-down menu.
  6. Click the plus sign to add another component.
  7. Select "Sender is not in any of my previous recipients" from the new pull-down menu.
  8. Click the plus sign again, and select Edit Header List from bottom of the pull-down menu.
  9. Type "X-Spam-Level" in the blank, then select Add Header. Click OK to close the box.
  10. The header "X-Spam-Level" should now be available in the third pull-down menu; select it.
  11. Select "contains" from the menu that appears next, then type "*****" in the third field.
  12. Under "perform the following actions," select Move Message in the first menu.
  13. Select the Spam Mail folder in the second menu, then click OK to close the box.
That's it! Monitor the Spam Mail folder so that you can clean it out occasionally and ensure that some mail hasn't made it there accidentally. You control the level of spam filtering by adjusting the number of stars in your filter.

If spam is still getting through, you can change the "X-Spam-Level: *****" to X-Spam-Level: ****" and so on until you have reached the desired level of filtering.
