Setting up Spam Filter rules with Eudora - Open Eudora
- Click "Mailbox" on the menu bar
- Then click "New"
- Enter "Spam Mail" for the new mailbox name and click OK
- Next click "Tools" on the menu bar
- Then click "Filters"
- Place a check in "Incoming" if not already checked off
- In the field next to "Header" enter "X-Spam-Level:" (without quotes of course)
- In the field next to "contains" enter " *****" (Note: The space preceding the stars should be the default but it is version dependent. If you have a space in your rule and it isn't working, edit the rule removing the space preceding the stars.)
- Next click the down arrow under "Action" and select "Transfer To" and select the mail box "Spam Mail" which you created in step 4
- You should now see the rule you just created that looks like this "X-Spam-Level: *****" and it should be at the top of your filter list
- Now close the "Filters" window and click "Yes" to "Save changes to Filters"
That's it! Monitor the Spam Mail folder so that you can clean it out occasionally and ensure that some mail hasn't made it there accidentally. You control the level of spam filtering by adjusting the number of stars in your filter. If spam is still getting through, you can change the "X-Spam-Level: *****" to X-Spam-Level: ****" and so on until you have reached the desired level of filtering.
