Setting up Spam Filter rules with Pegasus

  1. Open Pegasus Mail
  2. Click on File
  3. Then "Mail Folders"
  4. Click on "New"
  5. Enter "Spam Mail" for the folder name
  6. Select "Message folder" as the type and click ok
  7. You should see the folder created directly below "My mailbox"
  8. Click X or exit this window
  9. Next, click on the icon resembling a piece of mail in a funnel
  10. It should be located directly beneath the Tools/Folder menu option on the toolbar.
  11. Click on "Add rule"
  12. The type of rule should be "Standard header match"
  13. Enter "X-Spam-Level:*****"
  14. Under "What to do when the rule is triggered:" select the action "Move"
  15. In the window "Select a mail folder" highlight or select the message tray of "SpamMail" which you created in step 5 and click "Open"
  16. You should now see that the action to take is "Move" and "Parameter:" is set to Spam Mail.
  17. Click "Ok"
  18. You should now see the rule you just created indicating "Rule Type" = "Headers" and "Contents" = "contains X-Spam-Level:*****" and "Action" = "Move.
  19. If you do not see this, either "Erase rule" or "Edit rule" to repeat steps 8 through 15.
  20. Click "Save"
That's it! Monitor the Spam Mail folder so that you can clean it out occasionally and ensure that some mail hasn't made it there accidentally. You control the level of spam filtering by adjusting the number of stars in your filter.

If spam is still getting through, you can change the "X-Spam-Level: *****" to X-Spam-Level: ****" and so on until you have reached the desired level of filtering.
