Future Goals

• Continue to expand the use of the Operational Data Store to all users Finance, Human Resources and Research.
• Implement the Xtender imaging system as a part of the Student implementation project and expand to become the standard for imaging at UAB.
• Implement the BlazerNET portal in stages to become UAB’s intranet and delivery of information and systems through single sign-on.
• Continue the student system implementation for servicing the Fall class of 2007.
• Successfully implement the SCT Advancement module in October 2006.
• Complete the research support forms project with delivery of the first forms during the last quarter of 2006.
• Complete the WebESIS project.
• Successfully implement the SiteMinder Clinical Trials Billing System with phase I delivery in October 2006.
• Assist with the implementation of the personnel applicant system replacement.
• Continue phase II of the Sunflower Asset Management System for delivery of functionality beyond the central units.
• Implement the I-Procurement module in Oracle.
• Upgrade the SCT Banner system to the next release – required for upcoming Financial Aid releases.
• Continue to strengthen data security policies, practices and training.
• Continue to upgrade the Oracle E-Business suite.
• Continue to expand and upgrade the Exchange Email System.
• Provide course shells in WebCT Vista for all UAB courses by Fall 2007.
• Implement educational and support activities for staff using the Training Institute.
• Open a new WebCT Vista Institute to support grant and continuing education related activities of the University.
• In conjunction with the UA System, complete the connection to the Southern Light Rail and the National Lamba Rail.
• Continue to expand our efforts in High Performance Computing.
• Release an upgraded version of the Payment Request system.   Training should start in November with a release date in January.
• Develop a reporting strategy for the Oracle system.
• Complete the campus high speed 10 gig backbone upgrade.
• Continue to evaluate the future technology for VoIP.
• Expand the IT billing operation to include an interface for all users to view and manage their accounts via the web.
