Recent Milestones

• Implemented the Sunflower Asset Management for the central units in January 2006. This system replaces the older Equipment Accounting System which ran on the mainframe.
• Successfully integrated the graduate and undergraduate web-based admissions application systems with SCT Banner and went live with the Recruiting and Admissions module on July 17, 2006.
• Implemented the SCT Operational Data Store, a reporting tool initially for Student and Advancement in July 2006.
• Released the Banner Catalog for use at the end of July 2006.
• As of Summer 2006, successfully converted all courses in WebCT campus edition and Blackboard to WebCT Vista completing the transition to one standard for course management systems at UAB.
• Implemented a WebCT Vista Training Institute and consultation to support on-line training initiatives in Research, HRMDT, and Health system.
• Implemented basic and enhanced Blended Learning workshops and have educated 153 participants (faculty, professionals and nonprofessionals).  
• Completed the following Oracle upgrades: Security, Technology stack, mandatory payroll releases.
• Implemented a campus-wide SPAM tagging and elimination project.
• Expanded the campus-wide Exchange Email system.
• Continued expansion of the wireless network across campus.
• Implemented a new voicemail system.
• Conducted planned and unplanned disaster drills.
• Joined InCommons and implemented a pilot project with Physics.
• Continued focus on data security and assisted with implementing a FERPA training course.
• Created a web-based interface for student telephone service and implemented an online archive for administrative telephone statements.
