Microsoft Campus Agreement - Faculty/Staff:
For the Microsoft Campus Agreement the
following items are covered for all Faculty/Staff on UAB owned/leased systems
(including University owned lab computers):
-
Microsoft Campus Desktop (consisting of Office
Professional, Windows Upgrade and Core CALs)
-
Office 2007 Enterprise for Windows includes: Access, Excel, InfoPath, Outlook,
PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, One Note, and Groove. For more information on Office
2007 see Office 2007.
-
Office for Mac 2008 Professional includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage,
Virtual PC for Mac.
-
Core CALs (Client Access Licenses) consist of the client access license for Windows Server, Exchange
Server, Systems Management Server, and SharePoint Portal Server.
-
CALs for Windows Terminal Server are included only up through Windows Server
2003.
-
Windows Upgrade requires that a full operating system already be
licensed on the system. Only a right to upgrade is included here.
UAB will be licensed for Vista Enterprise upgrades.
-
UAB faculty and staff may continue to use and install previous
versions such as Office XP Pro and Office 2003 Pro if they choose not to upgrade
to the 2007 versions when they are available for campus use.
- Microsoft FrontPage (SharePoint Designer for Office 2007)
- Microsoft Visual Studio .Net Professional
Faculty and Staff may download the above
applications from this web site or contact AskIT for media ($5 fee) for
installation on a UAB owned system. Applicable 'keys' are provided with
each download or media distribution. These 'keys' are confidential and
care should be exercised to ensure they are only used where a valid license is
in place. 'Keys' are not to be distributed outside of UAB or used inside
UAB to circumvent appropriate licensing rights.
-
Home Use
Faculty/Staff are also allowed to install one copy of the Home Use version of Office (Office 2007 Enterprise) and one copy of the home use version of Vista (Vista Business). These are for faculty/staff exclusive use on a single home or portable system that they own/lease with the following limitations.
-
Media for the install is available for a nominal fee through Barnes & Noble @ UAB Bookstore. Faculty/Staff may not use the same media as provided
to them for installation of the applications on their UAB owned equipment, but
must use the specific media and license keys provided through the Bookstore.
-
Use of the software on a home system may only be for work-related
purposes and must be deleted upon termination of the Campus Agreement or upon
faculty/staff separation from UAB.
- A valid Microsoft operating system must already be in place on the home system. Only upgrade rights are included with the home use license.
Faculty/Staff must sign a Home Use Acceptance
Form at the time of license purchase at the Bookstore indicating their
understanding and acceptance of the license rights

Acceptance Form.
