Enterprise Spyware Module (plug in to VirusScan 8.0i) is included in our McAfee license agreement and is available to the UAB community at no additional cost.

Spybot-Search & Destroy is a free tool for removal of spyware. For more information on supported operating systems and downloads visit Spybot's website.

AdAware, unlike Spybot, is NOT FREE for use at UAB. While some earlier versions of the product may have been available to the academic community at no cost, that is no longer the case. AdAware now considers academics in the same sector as commercial and their "free" version is not available for campus use.  If AdAware is installed on a UAB system a license must be purchased...the free download on the AdAware website cannot be used.  Licensing is on a per system basis, not a concurrent use basis...bottom line is you can't order just one copy, install the software, clean the system, and then remove the software to re-use on another system.
