BlazerBytes Data Warehouse

The BlazerBytes Data Warehouse is a web-based decision support system that contains eight plus years
of financial, human resource and student data updated nightly with extracts from the production systems.
It allows users to create and use knowledge about UAB from a data source that is
- Integrated across the university
- Consistently coded
- Accurately stored
- Timely and historical
- Defined in descriptive, non-technical terms
- Easily accessible
The warehouse was created in 2000. It is housed on a SUN V880 running Oracle 10g database server and accessed via Win 2000 application and web servers. Microstrategy (version 7.2.3) is the user application interface. Informatica is the transformation tool. Student related IPEDS data and other official university reporting elements were added to the warehouse in 2004 to facilitate University of Alabama System Office multi-campus reporting requirements. Data Warehouse users must have a BlazerID and strong password.
To get a BlazerID, click here or call AskIT at 996-5555. Users desiring access to the warehouse must sign a confidentiality agreement, have the approval of their department head.
