Oracle Human Resource/Payroll ERP Application

The Oracle Human Resource/Payroll System is UAB's official personnel/payroll system. It was implemented January 2004 and is based on Oracle Applications version 11.5.9. It runs in a client server environment on a Fujitsu 850. Specific features of the new system include a web-based self-service environment for all employees and an electronic administrative processing environment for staff to conduct day-to-day business. Also, seven-digit employee numbers replace social security numbers as a means of identifying UAB employees. The modules implemented include:
  • Core Human Resources Management
  • Advanced Benefits
  • Payroll and Time and Labor
  • Labor Distribution and Effort Reporting
Usage statistics:
  • As of October, 2004, an average of 3700 users log in to the Oracle Financial and HR applications each day.
  • 4,500 time sheets are entered every two weeks
  • 15,000 employees can use self-service to change personal data and view payslips

Personal Applicant System

The Personnel Applicant System (PAS) is used by the University Employment Office, the Hospital Employment Office, and also by the Health Services Foundation Office of Human Resources. It was developed in-house in 1985 in COBOL using IMS databases. It contains information on applicants such as demographic data, EEO data, skills inventory, information regarding how applicants learned of position vacancies, and positions applied for and dates of application. The system also contains information regarding vacant positions, including title, department, salary range, and position qualifications. It has been integrated with the Oracle Human Resources/Payroll ERP application.

Access to this system has historically been limited to the Human Resources Office staff. However, if you need to view such information, please contact Pat Robinson of UAB Human Resource Management (ext. 4-5248, AB 110 Zip 0101).

LEGACY HUMAN RESOURCE SYSTEM

The legacy Human Resource System (HURS) is available view only for a limited time to authorized users to allow access to HR historical information. This COBOL IMS system was purchased from Information Associates, implemented in 1986 and subsequently modified to meet the needs of UAB. A HURS Online Inquiry System became available in 1993. The HURS Online Inquiry System access was not modified to use the Oracle Financials Chart of Accounts. It provides historical information on employees hired prior to January 2004.
