Stefani Yates
Research Assistant. University of
Alabama at Birmingham.
I obtained my Bachelor’s of Science
in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Biology and
Genetics from UAB in 2008.
I have worked as a research technician under Dr.
Lawrence DeLucas at the
Center
of Biophysical Sciences
and Engineering extracting and purifying the CFTR
protein for possible crystallization.
I recently came from the Environmental Health
Sciences department as a research technician for Dr.
Michelle Fanucchi.
The emphasis of research was investigating the
impact of ozone and particle exposures in animals
presenting with Cystic Fibrosis.
I performed mouse necropsies and harvested lung
tissue and blood for molecular isolation and use.
I am currently in Dr. Meador-Woodruff’s lab
working under Dr. Rob McCullumsmith as a research
assistant conducting abnormal molecular studies on
postmortem brain tissue.
I have been accepted into the Biotechnology
Master’s program at UAB and will begin classes in summer
of 2010.
