Akihito Uezato
Adjunct
Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry,
UAB, University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Uezato received his BS
in Quantum Science from the University of Tokyo, and his
MD from the Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU)
in Japan in 2002. He completed a residency in psychiatry
at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in
2008, where he was involved in research projects in Dr.
Jim Meador-Woodruff’s laboratory. Upon completion of his
residency, he returned to Japan to join Dr. Toru
Nishikawa’s laboratory and work as an attending
psychiatrist at TMDU. He received a Ph.D. from TMDU in
2009. His current position is Assistant Professor at
TMDU Department of Psychiatry and Adjunct Assistant
Professor at UAB Department of Psychiatry. His past and
current research activities include the studies of the
expression of genes associated with glutamatergic
neurotransmission in schizophrenia and mood disorders in
collaboration with Dr. Meador-Woodruff’s laboratory. He
is also involved in the genetic association studies at
TMDU for genes associated with glutamatergic
neurotransmission in schizophrenia.
