“When dad found out he had cancer on his other kidney on the day my daughter was born in October 2011, it was a big blow. From that point on, my two older brothers and I decided that one of us would donate.
“My brothers work, and I’m a stay-at-home mom, so I had more time to go through the evaluation process. I got to UAB first and was approved, and we just went ahead and decided I would be the sibling that donated, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
“It’s just been an incredible process. It feels like everyone in this chain is family. I may not know them all by name, and I may not have even met all of them, but we are all linked.”
