If you’ve ever seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show, you know that it’s not just a movie - it’s an event.
You can experience this event on Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Alabama Theatre.
There will be a “Rocky Horror Masquerade Ball” look-alike contest at 8:30 p.m., with the movie showing immediately afterward.
With tickets at $16 in advance and $20 the day of, it’s not the cheapest of thrills - but it’s all about the experience. Not only are you participating in a Halloween tradition, but you’re doing so in a beautiful historic theater.
It’s definitely worth it.
attend this
lecture
In case you don’t have the sixteen-plus dollars to fork over for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, you can still fill your day-before-the-day-before Halloween with something festive.
Max Brooks, author of “The Zombie Survival Guide” and “World War Z: An Oral History Of The Zombie War,” will be giving a lecture at the Alumni Auditorium on Oct. 29.
The lecture starts at 8 p.m., and as you can probably guess from his repertoire, Brooks will present ten tips for surviving a zombie attack.
It’s free for students - just be sure to pick up a ticket at the UAB ticket office if you plan on attending.

Hip-hop-meets-indie-rock geniuses WHY? will be taking the stage at Bottletree this Wednesday, Oct. 28.
The doors are at 8 p.m., but the show probably won’t start until about 9 p.m. or later.
Bands AU and Serenghetti & Polyphonic will be the openers for the night.
Tickets for the show are $12.
And just in case there are any 17-year-olds that happen to be reading this page, the show is 18+.
Come and be amazed.
eat at this
restaurant
Well, it’s not really a restaurant. It’s more like the most amazing frozen-treat parlor ever.
It’s called Yogurt Mountain, and it’s located on Highway 280 near Whole Foods. In fact, that is one of the only two locations, the other one being in Tuscaloosa.
Even though it’s getting pretty chilly out, you’ll love this place.
When you walk in, you’re greeted by bright green-and-purple decor and a friendly staff, as well as approximately a jillion different frozen yogurt flavors and toppings.
And you pay by the ounce, so you can get as little or as much as your wallet will allow.
It’s cool in every sense of the word.
