Current trends prove not so trendy

Plenty of gorgeous garb exists in the world, but sometimes students turning heads miss the fashion forward mark.
Instead of causing those surrounding you to turn emerald with envy, these failing fashions might just make them green with nausea.

Whether or not the runway condones these ridiculous outfits, they are best left in a theatrical world of the impractical — one where Bai Ling and Lady GaGa exist in funky feathers and space gear.

Recently on “Tyra” a segment about women devoid of eyebrows was featured.

Many models are being asked to shave their eyebrows off to exude an edgy appearance that makes the eyes the absolute focal point of the face.

However, instead of waxing fashion forward, these eyebrow-less ladies just end up looking like Whoopi Goldberg.
You never realize how much tiny strips of hair above the eyes matter until you’re missing them. Important for keeping sweat out of the eyes, the brows possess both a form and function.

This writer votes that they remain in place, neatly manicured and clearly separated.

Drop waist dresses and tops adorn the racks of nearly every store.

While these draped frocks echo comfort and loose appeal, they look good on no one. Seriously.

The drop waist creates the illusion of a pouchy belly and accentuates the width of the hips. These are things that most women dread and determine to conceal.

Don’t be fooled by the light, fluid appeal of the style — the drop waist is a fashion villain disguised as a comfy new addition to the world of Boho-Chic.

Flat hair with an extreme side part is more of a local fashion trend than an international sensation, but it’s unflattering and commonly found in Birmingham.

Whatever happened to bouncy locks with body? Hair is often associated with sex appeal, but stick-straight and harshly parted to one side provides the appearance of an unapproachable drone rather than a soft and touchable woman.

Originality and a lack of fuss is essential when it comes to hair. Embrace your texture, whether curly, wavy or straight, and forget looking like the masses.

There’s nothing sexier than being unique and possessing a sense of comfort with the self.
