Blair earns Athlete of the Week

Women’s soccer junior defender Danielle Blair adds to her list of academic achievements by being selected UAB’s Scholar Athlete of the Week. She has been honored with Conference USA’s Medal of Honor two years in a row, as well as Conference USA’s Honor Roll.

“I’m really excited [to win the award],” said Blair. “I try hard to be a good student and athlete. It feels good to be rewarded for that.”

Blair has a double major in marketing and management. She is currently taking Management 303, Marketing One, Finance, MIS, and Business Communications. So, how does she perform so well in the classroom while balancing school and athletics?

“I make good relationships with the teachers, study, focus on what I’m doing and balancing my schedule,” said Blair.
The Scarboroug, Ontario, native played in 18 games and started in 12 games last year for the Blazers. She tallied one assist and three shots on goal.

Blair and her Blazer teammates open conference play this weekend with a pair of home games. UAB hosts UCF at 7 p.m. Friday and Southern Miss at 2 p.m. Sunday.
