Yahui Anita Huang (Ph.D. in Linguistics, University of Texas at Austin, 2010) is an assistant professor of Chinese. Her main research interests lie in the area of Syntax, Semantics, Pragmatics, Discourse Analysis, Philosophy of Language, and Chinese linguistics. Specific topics include anaphora, wh-constructions, presupposition, and the meaning and use of conditional sentences. Her dissertation titled “On the Form and Meaning of Chinese Bare Conditionals: Not Just Whatever” investigated quantification, modal implications, and pronoun occurrence in Chinese Bare Conditionals and how they are compared to English whatever, whoever, etc.
Her research agenda also includes Chinese Language Pedagogy. She is constantly renovating and developing effective teaching strategies to make learning Chinese fun and interesting. Anita has experience working as import-export business consultant, translator, and interpreter. She speaks English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, and German.
