LHL HOSTS INTERNATIONAL FELLOW FROM MOSCOW

    Elena Leonova of the Cardiology Research Complex Scientific Library in Moscow, Russia recently visited LHL as the Medical Library Association's Cunningham International Fellow for 2000.  Lister Hill Library and EBSCO were co-hosts for her week-long experience in Birmingham. The Cunningham Memorial International Fellowship provides a four-month stipend for a librarian from a country outside the United States/Canada to visit, observe, and perform supervised work in medical libraries in the United States or Canada. Ms. Leonova is currently Head of the Bibliography Department and will become the director of her library later this year.  She was particularly interested in learning more about integrated library systems, databases, information technology, and computer labs in libraries.
     Ms. Leonova met with various library staff members to discuss information technologies, participated in committee meetings, and attended a "Lunch and Learn" session.  At EBSCO's International Headquarters, Elena joined a group of thirteen U. S. academic medical center librarians. at a seminar on electronic journals.
     This was a wonderful learning and sharing experience for us all!
