LHL SPOTLIGHT ON MIKE FITTS

 Conventional wisdom says to start at the bottom and work your way up.  That is exactly what Michael Fitts has done in his career at Lister Hill Library.  Michael began in 1992 as a student assistant in Photocopy Delivery and, after a few months, transferred to Collection Access.  In 1996 he accepted a full-time position as a Library Assistant II in Circulation.  Michael worked full-time while still pursuing  his degree in Management.  In 1997 Michael was promoted to his present position as a Library Assistant III.  Michael will graduate with his MLIS degree in May 2001.
 As you can see, Michael is a man of boundless energy.  He has excellent customer service skills that are so vital in any public service area.  He currently serves on the Library Operations Committee, Access Services Strategy Group and Horizon RBR/Media Subgroup.  He is a member of the American Library Association and the Library Administration Management Association.  With his masters degree, front-line experience and enthusiasm for his work, Michael has positioned himself well to make a significant contribution to librarianship.
