LIBRARY WILL MISS RETIREES

It seems as through something is missing these days at Lister Hill-and there is!  At the end of August, four valuable library employees retired.  Although we wish them the best, we will miss each of them!

Joan Lukins
Joan was a reference librarian and had been in the Drug Information Center at Samford University before spending 3 years with us.   She served as our Outreach Coordinator and spent much of her time working on a grant to teach Medline to rural health care professionals.  Joan will be moving to the mountains of North Carolina, but we have her e-mail address so we can stay in touch.

Kristina Iljin
Kristina worked in the serials department of Lister Hill for 11 years.  Each time someone found a journal on the shelves downstairs, they could thank Kristina for getting it there. She considered it a personal mission to get the journals to the stacks the same day they were received. Kristina will be relocating to California to be near her daughter.

Cora Ellis
Cora ran the Collection Access department; so, after the journals mentioned above made it to the stacks, Cora and her staff made sure they were shelved so customers could find them.  She trained many of the Library's current staff and students and was "Momma" to Access Services.  Cora was with LHL for 11 years and plans to spend more time with her family and redecorating her house.

Sharon Britnell
Sharon was the Associate Director for Computer Services.  She worked at UAB for 25 years, 20 with LHL.  She saw many changes in technology in her time here and was responsible for much of the automation of our library.  Sharon hopes to spend more time on her farm and with her horses, if we would only stop calling and asking her questions.

Each of the employees was special to the staff and patrons of our library and will be deeply missed!
