Mike Flannery Receives Edward Kremers Award

Mike Flannery, Associate Director for Historical Collections, became the twenty-fourth recipient of the Edward Kremers Award, which was presented by the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy on March 18th at its conference in San Francisco.  The Kremers Award has been given since 1961 for original and scholarly publication on the history of pharmacy written by an American.

Mike has recently published the following:  "The Life of a Hospital Steward: The Civil War Journal of Spencer Bonsall," Pharmacy in History 42 (2000): 87-98; "Good for Man or Beast: American Patent Medicines From 1865 to 1938," Alabama Heritage 59 (Winter 2001): 8-17; and with Alex Berman, America's Botanico-Medical Movements: Vox Populi, New York: Pharmaceutical Products Press, 2001.
