LHL SPOTLIGHT

Picture it, UAB 2001, a lone researcher is burning the midnight oil over a grant proposal that could bring in over a million dollars to UAB and possibly produce a product that could be patented.  In pouring over her list of articles she discovers that she does not have a crucial article.  She waits frantically until she can contact Suzanne Brazell in Lister Hill Library's Photocopy Delivery unit.  Can Suzanne fax a copy of this article immediately??!!??  Suzanne checks the Horizon online catalog, checks to make sure the Library has the needed issue, then requests that the researcher fax the information over on a form that is being faxed to the researcher.  Suzanne tells the researcher that once the form is received, the article will be faxed directly to her office.
OR, Suzanne is on her daily rounds delivering photocopies of articles to the requestors.  At one office, the doctor makes the suggestion that it would be nice if he could request articles electronically.  Suzanne goes into teacher mode and shows the physician how to access the Library's web page and fill out the electronic form.  Suzanne leaves a happy and satisfied customer as she continues on her rounds.
Who is this person who helps snatch grant victory from the jaws of the rejected stamp?  Who is the person who delivers photocopies of articles directly to the physician's office or the researcher's lab?
This wonderful person and bundle of energy is Suzanne Brazell.  Suzanne is a Library Assistant II in the Access Services division and handles the Photocopy Delivery unit.  Suzanne is also a student pursuing a degree in engineering.  She is responsible for ensuring that article requests received one morning go out the next morning.  It's a pressure job that Suzanne fills very well.  She is the face that many faculty and staff have of Lister Hill Library.  While not officially part of her job, by showing customers the Library's web page and resources, she is a marketing agent for the Library and an advocate for our customers.  Thanks Suzanne for all you do.
