January/February 1998Librarians Spearhead Team Effort to Provide Internet TrainingLister Hill Library staff librarians, Kay Hogan and Martha Verchot, are spearheading an effort to train health professionals around the state in the use of the Internet. The NetRx project, sponsored by the Alabama Health Libraries Association Inc. and funded in part by a subcontract with the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, focuses on the advantages of communication and consultation among peers, particularly for those in remote areas, as well as the advantages of currency and ease of information access. UAB Division of Continuing Medical Education is sponsoring the CME level 1 credit hours for the workshops. The first hands-on workshop was held in Montgomery on November 18, 1997 at the Alabama TechnaCenter. The next will be held in Tuscaloosa on February 24, 1998 at the Rodgers Science and Engineering Library on the University of Alabama campus. Workshops in Auburn, Huntsville and Dothan will follow through the summer. For more information, contact Kay Hogan at 934-2230 or email her at . |
