County and City Extra: Annual Metropolitan, City and County Data Book

A common request at the Information Desk is for statistics on a topic specific to a particular geographic area in the United States. A useful resource for local area statistics, the County and City Extra: Annual Metropolitan City and County Data Book provides current statistics for all U.S. states, counties, metropolitan areas, congressional districts, and cities with a population of 25,000 or more. Topics covered include: population by age, race, sex and population change; homelessness, births and deaths; numbers of physicians, hospitals, mental hospitals, and persons without health insurance; income and poverty statistics; government grant dollars awarded in a particular area; employment and disability statistics.
