July/August 1998Reference Manager, EndNote Classes Planned for FallRecently the library decided to begin teaching classes on the use of a bibliographic management software package. To begin, we purchased copies of the three most popular software packages, Procite, Reference Manager and EndNote. Our reference staff evaluated the different products and found the features we liked, but we wanted more input. We contacted people in the different health sciences schools and asked them what was being used and why. From this information, we found we didn't have a clear winner. Both Reference Manager and EndNote have strong followings on campus. So we decided to teach both. We'll spend the summer getting familiar with the software and mapping out our classes. By fall we should be teaching classes on the use of both Reference Manager and EndNote. For more information about class schedules, check the library web page or call the InfoDesk. |
