This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Reynolds Historical Library, which was founded in 1958 with the dedication on February 2 of Dr. Lawrence Reynolds's collection and the opening of the library that would bear his name. Such an occasion called for a celebration at our 29th Annual Reynolds Lecture held on February 8, 2008.

Essential Evidence Plus will continue to feature InfoPOEMs with DailyPOEMS (an EBM content alerting service), and the robust EBM search application formerly known as InfoRetriever. The incorporation of two new content resources—EBM Guidelines and e- Essential Evidence—are intended to greatly augment the existing product features and content and position Essential Evidence Plus as a state-of-the-art content system facilitating EBM practice, increasing clinical efficiency at the point of care, and improving patient outcomes.

EBM Guidelines is produced by the Finnish Medical Society Duodecim and includes a concise, easy-to-use collection of more than 950 Practice Guidelines, more than 3,000 Evidence Summaries, and more than 1,000 images.

e-Essential Evidence is an evidence-based, point-of-care reference, with content tightly integrated and hyperlinked to all of the resources in Essential Evidence Plus, including InfoPOEMs summaries and The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews Abstracts. Additionally, Essential Evidence Plus algorithms have been included for common problems, thousands of interactive calculators and decision support tools, a visual expert system for diagnosing skin conditions, coding tools, and an extensive library of images. e-Essential Evidence will serve as the cornerstone for Essential Evidence Plus.
