The Learning Resources Center (LRC) comprises the electronic media center for the School of Health Professions (SHP), the School of Nursing (SON), and the Clinical Simulation and Skills Labs. The facility currently sets the pace for other campus facilities in the use of learning technologies.

Lister Hill Offers New Service in LRC Commons

Birmingham’s first Einstein Bros. Bagels opened on UAB campus in the LRC!


The Information Desk of the Learning Resources Center pictured below is usually the first thing a visitor would see upon entering the front door on the second floor, but changes are coming to the LRC. Presently under construction at the entrance to the LRC is a bagel shop, so it will be the first thing that patrons of the LRC encounter.  The new Information area will be moved around the corner but  will still overlook the Computer Commons area from behind glass windows.

This area is the main point of contact between us and our patrons. Some of the services and resources available here include:

  • Room reservations
  • Packets of articles placed on reserve for various courses
  • CD-ROMs and DVDs for viewing in-house
  • Reference books and clinical skills handbooks
  • Physical assessment equipment for checkout
