PhD students enter the Graduate Biomedical Sciences program in one of eight themes. Students interested in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders typically enter through the Neuroscience, Pathobiology and Molecular Medicine (PBMM), Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology (CMDB), and Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics themes, or through the Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD).

PhD training is also offered in the College of Arts and Sciences through the Department of Psychology's Behavioral Neuroscience Program.

Graduate training in research related to Alzheimer's disease is supported by several NIH T32 training grants, including programs in Cognition and Cognitive Disorders, Cell and Molecular Biology, and Pathobiology and Rehabilitation Medicine.
