Membership

The primary criterion for membership in the UAB HRFDCC is a strong commitment to hepato/renal fibrocystic diseases research and/or a major commitment to research in one of our thematic areas of emphasis. Membership in the UAB HRFDCC requires approval by the Director and Co-Director with the concurrence of the Internal Advisory Committee. The guidelines for membership are as follows:

Membership in the Institutional Research Base (UAB and MUSC investigators)

  1. A UAB or MUSC investigator who has funded research related to hepato/renal fibrocystic diseases and/or one of the Core Center’s thematic areas of emphasis. Submission of the project title, funding source, and abstract from the proposal will be requested.
  2. A UAB or MUSC investigator who has a productive collaboration with a Center investigator. One of the investigators must have extramural funding for the collaborative project or have a Center Pilot and Feasibility Study award.
  3. A UAB or MUSC investigator who is awarded a UAB HRFDCC Pilot and Feasibility Study grant.
Membership in the Extended Research Base
  1. A non-Institutional investigator who has funded research related to hepato/renal fibrocystic diseases and/or one of the Core Center’s thematic areas of emphasis. Submission of the project title, funding source, and abstract from the proposal will be requested.
  2. A non-Institutional investigator who has a productive collaboration with a Center investigator. One of the investigators must have extramural funding for the collaborative project or have a Center Pilot and Feasibility Study award.
  3. A non-Institutional investigator who is awarded a UAB HRFDCC Pilot and Feasibility Study grant.

The UAB HRFDCC welcomes all interested investigators to participate in the Core Center’s Educational Enrichment Programs, e.g. seminar series, journal clubs, workshops. Interested (and eligible) investigators will continue to be welcome to submit Pilot and Feasibility applications. However, the major benefit of membership is access to Core services and reagents. Therefore, UAB HRFDCC members are given preference and access to Core facilities will continue to be prioritized as follows: 1) investigators from the Institutional Research Base (UAB and MUSC); 2) investigators from the Extended Research Base who have developed collaborations with other Center members; 3) investigators of the Extended Research Base who do not have formal collaborations with other Center members; and 4) non-Center member investigators.
