2018 PILOT & FEASIBILITY PROGRAM REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS

UAB Hepatorenal Fibrocystic Disease Core Center LogoThe UAB Hepato/Renal Fibrocystic Disease Core Center (UAB HRFDCC; P30 DK074038) invites Pilot and Feasibility (P&F) proposals related to basic and translational research in Hepato/Renal Fibrocystic Diseases (HRFDs).

GOAL OF THE PROGRAM: The Center's P&F Program provides support to eligible investigators with the goal of generating preliminary data needed for subsequent funding through traditional mechanisms (e.g., NIH R01).

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

Investigators eligible for NIH funding (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/grant_basics.htm) with a faculty appointment before July 1, 2018 who fall into one of two categories:

  1. New independent investigators without current or past NIH research support (R mechanism), who have an interest in establishing a career in HRFD-related research.
  2. Established investigators who want to explore a novel idea related to HRFD that represents a clear departure from the investigator's ongoing research efforts. Investigators currently funded in the area of HRFD research (e.g., hepato/renal ciliopathies such as polycystic kidney disease) are not eligible.

Successful applicants will commit to pursuing extramural funding within 2 years of completing the P&F project. Awardees agree to acknowledge the UAB Hepato/Renal Fibrocystic Disease Core Center (P30 DK074038) in presentations and in publications resulting from the Center's support.
