Leaders from Alabama’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) support the work of the MHRC to develop health disparities research training programs for minority students and faculty. The partnerships, funded by the National Institute for Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI), help increase the pipeline of talented and culturally-sensitive investigators in the field of health disparities research.
Academic partners include:
Alabama A&M University
Alabama State University
Morehouse School of Medicine
The HBCU partnership sponsors several training programs, including the Health Disparities Research Training Program (HDRTP), the Summer Cancer Research Training Program (SCRTP), and the Summer Enrichment Program (SEP).
