Biography

Dr. Michael D. Johnson, M.D., joined the faculty of UAB’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2013. He received his medical school training here at UAB S.O.M., his residency in Orthopaedic surgery at the University of Tennessee and his fellowship at the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Johnson received numerous honors, scholarships and awards during his training period, including the Thomas E. Rast Endowed Medical Scholarship at the UAB School of Medicine. 

His clinical interest and specialty is diagnosis, treatment and therapy of foot and ankle disease, injuries, pain management—both non-operative and operative.

In addition to his Orthopaedic training, Dr. Johnson is certified in Advanced Cardiac and Trauma Life Support.
