National Physical and Fitness Sports Month signifies the importance of staying active through sports and other fitness activities. Staying active promotes better health, and carries emotional and mental wellness benefits as well. Through group sports, participants experience friendly competition that develops lifelong skills and character traits. 

UAB Sports Medicine, a partnership between the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Family and Community Medicine, recognizes the importance of becoming a healthier community through fitness activities and encourages individuals to get involved in their community by joining a fitness group or volunteering.

The UAB Sports Medicine Clinic provides a broad range of care, from non-surgical evaluation of athletes, to surgical management of complex injuries. Our providers feature a wide array of medical expertise that include physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, sports psychologists, dieticians, and a certified pedorthist. With care from expert physicians, patients will have access to in-clinic radiology and ultrasound diagnostic equipment that broadens the capabilities for athlete care.
