Our Mission and Vision Statement:
The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine is committed to providing the highest quality of clinical care to our patients, leading the effort to elucidate basic mechanisms of disease leading to the discovery of innovative treatments, and training the next generation of physician-scientist and clinical-educators.
Our Division is responsible for the care of critically ill patients in our Medical Intensive Care Unit as well as hospitalized patients in our dedicated pulmonary inpatient service. Our specialized services include:
- Diagnostic and interventional bronchoscopy services
- Pulmonary function testing
- Cardiopulmonary exercise testing
- Sleep-wake disorders center
- Specialized clinics related to:
- COPD, Emphysema
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Interstitial Lung Disease
- Lung Cancer
- Lung Transplantation
Research in the Division is broadly based, with strong programs in basic science (immunology, host defense, cell/matrix biology, fibrosis, aging), translational research (biomarker discovery, drug discovery/development, imaging) and clinical research (clinical trials in COPD, Cystic Fibrosis and Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD)
Our Division is committed to training the next generation of pulmonary and critical care specialists by ensuring the acquisition of requisite diagnostic and procedural skills in the evaluation and management of patients with pulmonary disease, critical illness and sleep disorders.
