2014 Annual MERIT RetreatThe 20014 Annual MERIT Retreat will take place at the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, AL. Our guest speaker will be Andrea Morris, PhD, Assistant Dean for Academic Diversity in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University, who oversees diversity initiatives for prospective and current graduate students. Dr. Morris was the first African-American woman to earn a Ph.D. in molecular biology from Princeton. She then completed concurrent postdoctoral fellowships at Emory University and Morehouse College, as an IRACDA/FIRST Fellow. Prior to joining Columbia, Dr. Morris was a tenured, Associate Professor of Biology at Haverford College.
