Annual Merit Retreat
Stayed tuned for 2013 Retreat information!
The 2012 MERIT Program Annual Retreat was held July 27, 2012 at the Carraway-Davie House in Birmingham, AL. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Saundra McGuire, gave us great insight on learning techniques. We did a lot of brainstomring and are making plans to implement all the great ideas from our attendees. Thanks to all our speakers and attendees for making it a great success!
The MERIT Program annually holds a day-long retreat for the entire MERIT Community, at a venue that is central to the participating institutions. This retreat further promotes interactions among members of the MERIT Community and provides additional opportunities for the MERIT Scholars to share their research and teaching experiences and plans. An invited key-note speaker gives a plenary address on a topic fundamental to the mission of the MERIT Program. The retreat agenda also includes ‘break-out’ sessions that discuss policy and organizational matters related to the MERIT Program. All members of the MERIT Program Community are expected to attend, with attendance required for all Scholars.
