At the start of each academic year, the Program Director and the Co-Directors for Research Instruction and Teaching Instruction meet with each MERIT Scholar cohort (e.g. Year 1, Year 2, etc.) separately to review the specific requirements and expectations of their respective cohort for the upcoming year. The Director and Co-Directors also meet with each Scholar together with their mentoring team, including Research and Teaching Mentors, at the start of each academic year to review Program expectations for the upcoming year and answer related questions.

In addition, the Director and Co-Directors host monthly workshops for the entire group of current MERIT Scholars who will interact with invited speakers to learn about topics related to career and professional development, including time management. These workshops also provide opportunities for MERIT Scholars to engage in peer-peer mentoring regarding both research and teaching experiences. MERIT Alumni are also invited to attend, either in-person or virtually, allowing for added networking and near-peer mentoring opportunities.

Meetings are currently held in-person on the third Friday of each month from 11:30am – 1pm in the LHL G08 Large Conference Room.
