The MPAD Center Student Spotlight honor has been awarded to Ph.D. student Dan Kaliberov (pictured left) and to undergraduate student Terry Hogan (pictured right).

Dan is a Graduate Research Assistant in Materials Engineering with skills in Manufacturing Techniques, Design & Modeling, and Mechanical Machining. Dan participates in research at the MPAD Center as a Department of Energy (DOE) GATE Scholar. However, Dan's role at the MPAD Center goes beyond research as he is also responsible for the Composite Lab's Chemical Safety and General Safety Training for all incoming students and volunteers at the MPAD Center. Dan is currently writing his dissertation on Long Fiber Thermoplastic Bolts with the goal of increasing the strength of the bolt without affecting its weight.

Terry is an undergraduate Materials Engineering student from Birmingham, Alabama. Terry is in his senior year and is currently participating in sponsored research on the sound dampening properties of soy fiber panels. Terry furthered his research time beyond the regular semesters at the MPAD Center by participating in the Experiential Learning Academy this past summer. When Terry is not in the lab or studying for his classes, you can find him marching Tenor Saxophone with the UAB Marching Blazers.

We appreciate their hard work and dedication to the MPAD Center and look forward to all of their future accomplishments.
