Biography
Program Director of NET SMART (Nurse Education & Training in Stroke Management & Acute Reperfusion Therapies), and joint appointed to the UAB Department of Neurology’s Comprehensive Stroke Center. Dr. Alexandrov received her MSN from University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston in Critical Care (1993), and PhD from Texas Women’s University focusing on integrated systemic/intracranial hemodynamics (2002). She was National President of AACN (FY2000), and the first nurse member of the U.S.F.D.A’s Neurologic Device Panel (1997-2000). She is a former member of the CCNE Board and the American Stroke Association’s Executive Leadership Board. Dr. Alexandrov currently serves as the Chair of the National Quality Forum’s (NQF) Stroke Committee and is a member of the NQF Consensus Standards Approval Committee. She also developed/initiated The Joint Commission’s Stroke Center Certification Reviewer role.
