Phillips named AAOHN Fellow

JENNAN PHILLIPSJennan Phillips, PhD, RN, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner Subspecialty Track in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing has been named a fellow of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN). Phillips was inducted at the 2015 AAOHN National Conference in Boston.

AAOHN Fellows are leaders in the field of occupational and environmental health nursing who have made significant contributions in the areas of clinical practice, education, research, management or policy. Fellows provide vision to advance skills, knowledge and abilities of occupational and environmental health nurses, influence formation of policy, contribute to research and exemplify highly effective management and clinical practices.

Phillips has more than 35 years experience as a nurse educator, researcher and program director. Her practice focuses on health promotion and injury prevention in underserved populations with particular emphasis on minority workers. Phillips directs learning experiences in live and distance accessible classrooms, and clinical activities in the community primarily with worker populations. She regularly supervises interdisciplinary field experiences for students in the Deep South Occupational Health & Safety Education and Research Center.

Phillips earned her master's of science in nursing, post-graduate certificate in nursing and PhD from the UAB School of Nursing.
