University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Assistant Professor Lisa Pair, DNP, CRNP, WHNP-BC (MSN 1992, DNP 2018), is a 2022 Fellow of the Academy of Urologic Nurses and Associates.

Fellows are members of the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates who have made significant contributions to urology and urogynecology education, management, clinical practice or research.

“This recognition is such an honor for me. Being named a Fellow of the Academy of Urologic Nurses and Associates signifies my professional legacy in the field of women’s health and urogynecology,” Pair said.

Pair was nominated by University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing Associate Professor Gwen Hooper, PhD, RN, APRN, FNP-BC, CUNP, FAUNA, and the nomination was supported by Pair’s collaborative physician, Robert Varner, MD. The nomination and letter of support highlighted Pair’s more than 20 years of clinical practice in medical gynecology, urogynecology and pelvic floor disorders.

Throughout her career, Pair has provided clinical care to patients with urogynecology disorders, improving their quality of life. She also participated as a nurse practitioner in more than 25 funded trials, collecting research data and facilitating change in evidence-based practice.

“Research is so important,” Pair said. “Identifying new knowledge in the health care of women and translating that evidence to clinical practice promotes higher quality outcomes for women across the board.”
