PhD student awarded Komen Outstanding Young Investigator Award

Nolan Timya 2University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing PhD student Timiya Nolan, MSN, ANP-BC, CRNP has been awarded the Outstanding Young Investigator Award by the Susan G. Komen Foundation of North Central Alabama.  

Nolan’s research focuses on breast cancer education and awareness. Nolan was selected based on her activism, scholarly research, and commitment to community outreach. Nolan is the inaugural recipient of this award which includes a travel scholarship to attend a Komen-sponsored scientific conference.

Nolan is mentored by Associate Dean for Research Karen Meneses, PhD, RN, FAAN. Nolan’s current doctoral funding is from the Komen Graduate Disparities Traineeship, American Cancer Society Doctoral Degree in Nursing Scholarship and The Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholarship.
