5/14/07- eCDA Announcement:

• In an effort to provide principal investigators (PIs) with a '"fast-track" mechanism to respond to a request for a confidentiality disclosure agreement (CDA) by a sponsor/CRO for the purpose of reviewing the detailed specifics (e.g., inclusions, exclusions, etc.) of a proposed clinical research project, UAB now has an Expedited CDA (eCDA) Process. As most of you know, a UAB Institutional Official, and not the individual investigator, must sign all CDAs.

• Effective November 1, 2006 the Health Services Foundation (HSF) and the UAB Hospital adopted standardized research fee schedules as follows:

  HSF charges – Medicare

  Hospital charges – Patient Care Rate Agreement (PCRA)

  Hospital Lab charges – Patient Care Rate Agreement (PCRA)

  Note:  Charges are for both industry and federal studies

  New rates apply to all studies with a UAB IRB number issued on or after November 1, 2006.  The IRB Number has the date of submission built into it:  A Sample IRB number would look like the following:

              October 31, 2006 IRB Number – W061031936

  The second and third characters represent the “year”, fourth and fifth represent “month”, sixth and seventh represent the “day” -  the last three digits are randomly assigned numbers.
